Winter Accessories FTW

How to add flair to any winter outfit

There’s nothing quite like the coziness that comes from full-on winter clothing. Winters in L.A. don’t get super cold, but if I’m in Canada or traveling somewhere else with lower temps, you better bet that I am rocking my favorite winter attire. If you’re like me, winter is the best time for accessorizing. Here are my favorites.

Beanies

I love how versatile beanies are. They come in a rainbow of colors and can be dressed up or down depending on your outfit. I don’t have a massive collection (I swear!) but I think you can get a lot of mileage out of just a few neutral-colored beanies in varying styles. I think this beanie is perfect for everyday wear because it’s super versatile and comes in so many colors! This one dresses up the look with the addition of a cute pom-pom—adorable!

Blanket scarves

I fell in love with blanket scarves last year and think they’re such an easy, fun way to stay warm and really upgrade an outfit. Winter colors tend to be darker, so I’m really drawn to bright accessories to balance that. Plaid patterns are classic for the winter, and I’m digging anything with fringe. Here’s some more inspiration on how to rock blanket scarves in any kind of chilly weather.

Knee-high boots

Since I spend so much of my time running from an audition to a dance studio to a sound booth, I dress for comfort. In the winter it’s totally normal to catch me in dark leggings, a neutral colored sweater and a bright (you guessed it!) blanket scarf. When I want to add some extra glam to my outfit, I’ll throw on a pair of black knee-high boots. They give me that extra height and pull my whole outfit together. Boots get kind of pricey, but they’re an investment piece — take good care of them and they’ll last you for years. And if you can catch them on sale it’s totally worth it. I always find high quality pieces at good prices at DSW.
