Festival season is still happening, and I've hit it BIG with my best friends! Let me first say, I do not do well in the heat, so Indio, CA, was not my ideal location. But I had a blast, and I want you to make the most of what's left of the festival season! Here are my top ten tips for having a freakin' fantastic festival time. (Props for the alliteration?!)
1. HYDRATE
With all the dancing to Lady Gaga and jumping to Martin Garrix, I think I would have passed out if I was't drinking a CRAZY amount of water.
2. LOCKERS
Even though it was 105 degrees during the day, it was so helpful to have a place to store sweaters for the night and put sunglasses and bags when we weren't using them.
3. GREASY FOOD IN MODERATION
Part of the reason Coachella is so fun is because of the food. Although, I don't think I could've made it through the whole weekend just eating cheeseburgers and quesadillas. Swap out one burger for a green juice or a poke bowl and you will thank yourself.
4. INDIE BANDS
As much as I LOVED the main acts, I discovered amazing, new artists by going to the smaller tents during the day. That way, you can hear some smaller bands during the day and still make it to the showstoppers in the evening. #IListenedToThemBeforeTheyWerePopular
5. COMFORTABLE CLOTHING
Coachella is full of inspiring fashion statements and since this was my first time, how was I supposed to not go a little extra. However, you can still be cute while being comfortable. That's why I chose shorts and a crop top over pants, minimal jewelry, and SNEAKERS. I promise it's worth it. (Your shoes get ruined by the way, I cleaned my Adidas for a LONG time)
6. BANDANAS
Okay, you might be thinking, "Why do people at Coachella wear bandanas around their neck?" BECAUSE IT'S SO DUSTY!!! So much dust is being kicked up when your jumping around in a crowded tent and I felt dust in my lungs for a long time after the festival. Bring a bandana.
7. CREW LOVE
Go with the right crew- people who you can totally let loose with and that will stick with you. Coachella is hectic and the people you go with completely set the mood.
8. SUNSCREEN
Enough said.
9. PORTABLE PHONE CHARGER
If you're like me, you always have your phone in your hand taking photos and videos. By the end of the night, you might want to have a battery pack with you so you don't miss documenting the last acts.
10. HOTEL/AIRBNB
I stayed 20 minutes away from the location in Palm Springs which was totally fine with me because we were driving to the festival everyday. However, you don't want to be searching for an Uber at the end of the night because 50,000 other people will be too. Some of my friends stayed at an Airbnb walking distance from the festival. I'll probably do that next time just because I'm lazy and don't want to park lol.
HAVE FUN THIS FESTIVAL SEASON!
