Simple, easy recipes for any holiday event (or just personal consumption)
The best thing about the holidays is sharing memories with friends and family members. This is the time of year when food and parties reign. Who doesn’t love the sugary goodness that goes hand in hand with the holidays? So whether you are hosting a holiday party or just giving away the goods, here are some recipes for every occasion.
Hot Chocolate For Hosting
Hosting a party this year? This Hot Chocolate recipe is perfect for a girls night in or an evening by the fire. Seriously, hot chocolate or hot cocoa is a staple in my household, but I like to kick it up a notch with a few simple tweaks. I love adding a dash of cinnamon or mint extract to give the chocolate an extra, unexpected flavor. When I’m feeling really fancy I love to make a s’mores-inspired hot chocolate. Here are two hot chocolate recipes from bloggers I love that are inspired by s’mores. If you prefer to wing it, just think graham cracker crumbs, mountains of mini marshmallows and fudge or chocolate chips on top.
If you can’t decide between all these options for your next holiday gathering, I suggest setting up a DIY hot chocolate bar with all the fixings so your guests can customize their cocoa as they please.
A Cake for Bringing
Odds are you are going to be invited to a party (or 10) this holiday season. I make sure never to show up empty-handed, and Pull-Apart Cake is one of the most clutch recipes you can bring. This caramel coffee cake recipe is super easy and makes a wonderful breakfast dish. It only takes four ingredients, most of which you probably have on hand, and it’s easy to whip up and is easy to share with a big group of people. Have I mentioned how EASY it is? It’s also delicious because the soft biscuits balance the caramelized crunch the same way the bitter coffee balances out the sweet caramel.
Something for Giving
If you have a long list of people to shop for, cut the expense and instead give a gift that comes straight from the oven with this recipe for Chocolate Zucchini Bread. Not only does it rank a little lower on the sugar scale, but it’s seriously delicious. I love using zucchini in pastas, as noodles and pretty much anywhere I can add it, so I was so stoked to find this recipe for chocolate zucchini bread. The bread comes out super moist and chocolatey, which is what all bread should be like, in my opinion. I like to keep a loaf lying around the house for quick snacks or an easy breakfast. Plus, it’s basically like eating a slice of vegetables, right?
